Productivity Routine - Productive Day in My Life
Hello Jewells! I hope you are all staying healthy and safe.
I have found a rhythm for being productive while working from home. I am a student at The University of Texas at Austin, and for the remainder of the semester my classes are online.
I am going to log my day and share my productivity routine throughout my day.
An important tip I learned is that a productive morning starts the night before. So, last night I made sure to take a shower, do my skincare routine, and CLEAN MY ROOM! Waking up to a clean room helps my mind feel at peace and helps with my organization.
9:50 am:
I woke up for my class, changed into clothes for the day, and grabbed my computer. I made a quick piece of toast and a glass of water.
10:00 am:
I entered my Spanish class via zoom. Today we learned about preterit and imperfect verb tenses.
10:50 am:
Class ended and I checked my school email. I need to register for my Fall classes next week, so I scheduled a virtual appointment with my UT adviser for Wednesday.
11 am:
I signed a contract and replied to some emails.
11:30 am:
I made a REAL breakfast while on the phone with a classmate. I also grounded up some fresh coffee. 10/10 recommend.
I even put my coffee in a reusable Starbucks cup just to feel a little more normal, aha.
12:00 pm:
I ate my breakfast while posting content for Texas Media & Analytics. At the beginning of the semester, I started the social channels for the Texas Media & Analytics program at my school. I am the director of digital strategy, so I posted all over our social channels about the application being open to qualifying students for the next semester.
12:30 pm:
I have an advertising ethics essay due tonight, so I revised the essay and fixed some errors my grandpa found.
1:00 pm:
I revised one of my peer’s essays and they revised mine! Even virtually it is important to help out and stay connected with your classmates.
1:30 pm:
I have a class in 30 minutes, so I am reading the case study we will be working on. I used to not read the material before class, but then I realized it affects my participation grade, xD.
pro tip: printing out case studies (or long articles) helps me read them more in depth. Plus I can annotate and highlight them.
1:50 pm:
I decided to switch up my location, so I went to my “office” in my room. I opened the curtains to my windows and lit a candle. I also found my blue-light glasses, so I put them on! I have been staring at screens for ….. a crazy amount of time recently so they have been helping me.
2:00 pm:
My ICM class started. We have a paper due in a week and then a group project due after.
2:50 pm:
Our group has a Zoom meeting about our group project. and set a deadline for Wednesday to have material ready.
3:00 pm:
I have started using white boards to help me organize my calendar and my to-do list! I updated my todo list and white board calendars.
Of course, I also updated my actual planner as well. It is important for my organization and productivity to write out everything I need to do and due dates coming up.
3:22 pm:
Around this time I get a little slump in my day. I am allowing myself to chill on my bed, watch YouTube videos, and play 8 ball pool on my ipad.
3:35 pm:
I made lunch!! Then I got inspired and made a TikTok, haha.
4:30 pm:
Back in my room now! I am going to chill out and mentally prepare myself to do homework.
5:15 pm:
I have made a make-shift office outside because I needed an extra motivation to buckle down on homework. I’m getting bored of staring at a screen all day. It is draining, to be honest. Anyway, the fresh air is doing me well. I am going to start homework now.
6:15 pm:
I just finished my Spanish homework for tonight. Now I am going to work on a discussion post for my ethics class.
7:00 pm:
I am still outside in my “patio office.” I just finished adding my final thoughts in my ethics essay and turned it in! Now I am going to journal in my gratitude journal and my manifestation journal! I also am highlighting the things I have completed on my to-do list!
7:15 pm:
I made dinner for myself and my grandparents. When I’m having a really productive day, I love to have a full course meal.
8:00 pm:
I have finished dinner and this is the time I’ve been waiting for! I am going to binge some YouTube videos and play 8 ball pool on my ipad. This game is just a fun way to turn my brain off!
8:30 pm:
I facetimed my friend Alysse. I wanted to check in since time is flying by. We found we have the same Sojos glasses!
9:00 pm:
I got a bowl of ice cream :)
9:50 pm:
I got my bed desk in the mail today!! It is awesome. I am using it as I type this.
I am going to use this time to import some of the pictures cameron and I took over the weekend.
10:39 pm:
I am now reading The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. It is perfect for me right now.
11:00 pm:
Played online pool on the phone with Cameron until I fell asleep!
I hope you all enjoyed this blog post! It was very fun and productive for me to log my day. I hope you all are making the days count. Check out my other post about setting quarantine goals to make this time worth it!
