How To Grow Your YouTube Channel in 2020
Whether you’re just starting your YouTube channel, or you have an existing one, I am sharing with you How To Grow Your YouTube Channel in 2020.
In this video I talk about why YOU need to start a YouTube channel! You are gonna be famous, I can feel it. I also dive into my analytics sent in My Year In Review from the YouTube partner program!
If you are starting a new YT Channel, make sure to check out my blog post on How To Start a YouTube Channel in 2020.
I have also made downloadable PDF’s for you to use!
Now, let’s hop right in to my tips on growth this year for YouTube.
YouTube is an ever-changing platform, just like all of the social channels we use. However, these tips are what have helped me grow my channel with the algorithm.
1. Consistency
The best thing you can do for your channel is to be CONSISTENT. No matter what changes occur to the YT algorithm, consistency will always be a necessity.
I have posted at least once a week for the past year and a half. You should be posting on your YouTube channel 1-3 times a week
(or more if you can, but we have lives outside of YT too).
The best thing to do is to make a schedule for your videos. Pick a certain day(s) of the week and a certain time you will be posting every week.
I have started posting at noon on Sundays every week. This not only tells YouTube’s algorithm I am a consistent and reliable content creator, but it also tells your audience when they can expect new videos from you.
Consumers are more likely to subscribe to your channel if they can trust that you will bring them content on a regular basis.
Speaking of consistency, I also created a video on my channel about how to grow!
2. Engagement
YouTube favors users that are active on their platform. You should be commenting on other people’s videos. I suggest you find new YouTubers or smaller creators so that they are more likely to come to your channel and interact with your content as well.
The first couple hours of your video being posted is crucial. Make sure to comment back to every single comment on your videos. Plus, like and heart comments as well.
I recommend once you upload a video to YouTube, watch the video all the way thru and give it a like! Even though it is your own like… a like is a like, isn’t it?
3. Keywords in Title, Description, and Tags
YouTube is the second largest search engine. This means you want to be making content that appears on search.
For example, keywords include: How To, YouTube, VLOG, Tutorial, etc.
For EVERY video you make, make sure you are using keywords in the title. However, to be even more effective, use every related keyword in the description of the video.
The description will help your video land higher in search. You should be describing what happens in your video in the description.
For example, for my “Finals Week In My Life Vlog” I used those keywords in my title, but in the description, I went on to say “I took you through my week of studying for finals leading up to my two exams in one day. Then, I had a work meeting with Red Bull where we went to dinner and Trail of Lights in Austin. Afterward, I went to dirty 6th street with Alysse and Katherine... 10/10 recommend. “
As I said, these keywords should also be in the tags of your video. Use every related keyword and title in your tags to increase the relevancy of your video.
Need help with keywords? There are platforms that help you with your keywords. One platform I love to use is VIDIQ.
In VIDIQ you can type in the title of your video and it will pull up realted titles and keywords. You should use all of the suggestions in your description/ tags.
VidIQ also goes into detail by scoring the relevance of the topic and the competitive score.
4. Google Trends
Yes, I do think you should make content you enjoy. However, If you want to grow your channel, you should make relevant content that is being searched for.
You can use Google Trends to see how popular the keyword/ title is of your video.
As you can see, the interest of How To Grow a YouTube Channel is up right now!
5. Promote Across Platforms
You should be promoting your new videos on FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Pinterest.
For starters, I talk about how you have to let go of other’s opinions of you making YT content. So, you should have no problem sharing your content with your friends and family. Plus, they will be your first supporters in the beginning.
Driving traffic from other platforms will help you grow your YT audience.
You can also invest in ads on FaceBook, Instagram, or Pinterest once you have a decent amount of content on your channel.
6. Make Binge-able Content
The goal is to make binge-worthy content. You want people to come to your channel to watch one video, and then they end up binging 5-10. You can do this by making related videos or a series of a topic (my YouTube series and College series).
You can also make playlists of related videos and this way someone could accidentally end up in a rabbit-hole of your videos on a certain topic!
I hope this was helpful for you! Start using these tips and see how your channel grows in 2020!
XOXO
