Getaway Experience 2020 — Amanda Jewell

Cameron and I celebrated his birthday at the Getaway House outside of Dallas, Tx. I know what you might be thinking—traveling during a pandemic?

Cameron and I were just as skeptical because we have to take safety precautions very seriously. We both live with or have close family members with compromised immune systems.

However, I did my research about the Getaway house in regards to cleanliness and safety. Getaway has a whole page dedicated to their response to COVID19. I will link it here.

Cameron and I were pleasantly surprised that we did not come into contact with one person our entire trip! So, I figured since I researched blog posts about Getaway, I would share my own experience!

We first arrived Monday 7/13/2020, Cameron’s birthday! Funny story.. I actually put it in the wrong address at first and took Cameron and I to someone’s random house in Mansfield…. Only to realize I put a completely different address in apple maps and the location of Getaway was two hours away… BUT IT’S ALL GOOD. Cameron was in a good mood, lol.

Getaway kept me updated with text messages starting a day or so before our reservation! They kept us updated and sent us our Getaway cabin name and key code.

Cameron and I got up to our cabin and it was on the top of a hill! It was so beautiful. You can see it in the vlog!

On the outside- just like the pictures there were the lounge chairs, table, and fire pit. They even supply firewood and fire starters for sale! It was super convenient.

The entire place was so AESTHETIC. When we arrived, the entire cabin had been cleaned spotless! I brought my own Clorox wipes just to be safe, but no cap, I wiped down the counters with my wipes and they came out CLEAN! I was impressed for sure.

My favorite part about Getaway’s pictures online is the big window next to the bed! So, I had to take my own photos as well! 10/10 recommend the window because it lets in the most beautiful light and you can stare out at nature.

I loved reading my book, Think & Grow Rich, by the window.

In these photos I am wearing my exercise dress by Outdoor Voices and I 10/10 recommend bringing this on your glamping trip (glamorous camping).

Cameron and I tried to cook on the open fire— however it did not work, lol.

BUT we did get the fire to work for smores on our second night! 10/10 recommend. Other fun activities include, reading, swinging in the eno, journaling, walking in nature, etc.

Cameron actually brought his eno and set it up perfectly outside the cabin. I recommend bringing one if you have one!

They also gave us a pamphlet that gives you a bunch of ideas on how to Getaway. Plus a few postcards for you to do reflection! This place was literally perfect.

It was so relaxing to lay outside in nature in the eno. I also read my book in the hammock! I will link the one Cameron has here.
