How To Study For Finals in College
Long time no talk. It is that time of the year where we realize we don’t have a 4.0 but we grind like it.
Here are my 10 tips on how to study for college exams.
I also made a YouTube video on my channel about this, click here to watch.
1. Find a good environment for focus.
Things I look for in a study environment is
natural lighting
good aesthetic
coffee access (or bring my own)
tables (I have to have a table to focus)
outlets
If the place is a common area for other people, I want to make sure those people are busy working also. This is why I like to find places on campus like the library, building of my major, and coffee shops.
2. Actually Read All of the Material
This sounds rhetorical, but it’s not. Read all of the material assigned and watch any video content you will be tested on.
3. Print Reviews
If the professor provides exam reviews, make sure to do them. Most of the time the reviews help you understand types of questions you will be tested on.
4. Practice Problems
Some classes provide practice problems separate from the reviews. Do all of those.
If your professor does not provide practice problems, you can google search some to try.
Watching YouTube tutorials are a great way to understand the material deeper as well.
5. Quizlet
You can make flashcards via the free services on Quizlet. Quizlet will also generate a review for you and a matching game for terms.
I like to print out my quizlet cards to highlight and write on.
6. Study Groups
I think you should study by yourself first and primarily. However, studying with a group of people in the same class can help. I learn something new when we all bounce off of each other’s learning methods.
7. Self-Care
Take care of yourself during these stressful times. Do facemasks, skincare, clean your room, get your nails done, or take a bath.
I have filmed my self-care routine, click here to watch it.
8. Sleep
Sleep has been proven to increase retention of information. You will perform better if you get sleep.
9. Eat Healthily
Healthy food promotes brain health.
10. Journal + lists
When you have a lot on your mind between exams, work, life, social life, etc. Journaling can help organize your thoughts and help with not being as overwhelmed.
I also love to make lists of things to do so that I can check them off as I go.
Those are my quick easy tips on how to study for finals! Good luck, and remember your grades don’t define you.
