Self Care Routine

Hello Jewells! In today’s blog post I am so excited to collab with Afrika-Ira! I will be talking about my self care routine, where Afrika-Ira will be making a post about affirmations over on her blog.

We are all trying to make it day by day in these, wait for it… ✨unprecedented times.✨ I have found myself in a whirlpool of emotions throughout 2020. Between anxiety, depression, and just straight up exhaustion, I have to make a point to practice self-care. I also have an Amazon store front where I linked my favorite wellness and self-care items!

So, without further ado- here are ways I love practicing a self care routine.

Clean Your Space

The first thing I do is clean up my room or living space. I am a firm believer that your external world reflects your internal world. That is why it is no surprise to me when my life is a mess that my room reflects it. Plus, the aftermath of a clean room is calming in itself. ~ this step also includes finishing whatever laundry is chilling around your room ~

While you’re cleaning- put on a good podcast! Afrika-Ira was actually on my podcast to talk about how she got her dream internship/ job, the goals for her brand, graduating from college, and so much more!

Take a bath or shower

On days I feel like soaking, I will draw myself a warm bubble bath with epsom salt (which extracts toxins and impurities out of your body). On other days I just want to get in and out of a warm shower. But, whichever I choose you bet I am using some form of lavender soap. Currently my favorite soap for winding down is “method body”.

Skin care!

I LOVE skin care. I make sure to moisturize, use toner, and vitamin c serum. When I am feeling extra indulgent, I will put on a hydrating face mask while I continue the rest of my self care actions.

Beauty Water (a must have)

Biossance Squalane Repair Cream

Glossier bubble wrap (eye cream)

Derma E Cleansing Balm

Pholk toner spray

Vitamin C serum

Light a candle

Setting the ambiance is key! I love to light a candle to make my environment smell good but also to give some ambient lighting.

I recently got this new lighter that lights the candle with electric current as pictured! It is so cool and I will link it here!

Journal

Putting my thoughts on to paper is so important for me to relax my mind, This brain of mine is constantly running through thoughts, worries, dreams, goals, tasks to-do, people to see- you name it! So by putting the pen to paper gives me a sense of release from all of the madness.

Specifically I like to journal about how my day went, write out tomorrow’s to-do list, and write down what I am still working towards/ manifesting,. I have a whole video on my Youtube channel that goes into how I journal for manifestation!

Gratitude

Either in the same journal as above, or in my gratitude journal, I like to write 3-10 things I am grateful for. No matter if it is the best day or the worst day- I ALWAYS have things to be grateful for. By writing them down and acknowledging them, the gratitude attracts abundance.

Affirmations

Afrika-Ira is going into detail on affirmations in her blog post- so make sure you read it here. Affirmations are statements that help you impress your subconscious mind and speak words into reality. Such as: I am successful. Wealth, prosperity, and abundance surrounds me! I will write these in my journal, on my mirror, or I will say them aloud in the mirror.

Tea

I have recently become even more obsessed with teas. I have a tea preference based on my mood. Recently my favorite teas are: Trader Joe’s ginger and tumeric tea, Pukka elderberry and echinacea, or Kava tea. They all help me relax and are extremely healthy for your immune system.

Meditate/ yoga

I love making an intention to meditate. I still use guided meditations on YouTube, but they always make a difference in my day. I will also practice yoga if I am in the mood. It always helps my bones and muscles feel better even if its a quicker stretch.

Afrika-Ira also has an in-depth blog post on how to meditate like a boss!

Read

Lastly, I love ending my day on a peaceful note with some good ol’ reading. I love reading self-help books or anything spiritual. I recently finished Vibrate Higher Daily. This book has amazing quotes and life lessons. I would recommend this to everyone! I will link it for you here.

Now, make sure you head over to Afrika-Ira’s blog post about Affirmations!

Thank you so much for reading, let us know what you thought!
