How To Sell Clothes on Depop

Hello Jewells! In today’s blog post I wanted to share how I sell clothes on Depop.

I don’t know about you, but it feels like I can always clean out my closet and find clothes to sell.

If you are anything like me, you want to declutter while also make a few bucks back on clothes that you bought out of your capitalistic instincts... too deep? lol.

Anywho! Without further ado, here are my tips for selling clothes on Depop.

I also made a YouTube video taking you along taking pictures for Depop and the tips and tricks for how to sell your clothes on the app!

Make an account

Set up your Depop shop with a username, profile pic, and fill out your bio!

Your bio should have KEYwords such as your city, what you are selling, and if you are offering deals.

For example my bio:

“Vintage/ brand name / hip / affordable BUNDLES / DM FOR DEALS /OPEN TO NEGOTIATION!All sales final #urbanoutfitters #Y2K”

Having hashtags in your bio of items that you sell will help your profile show up for those looking for those keywords.

Connect your Instagram or other social accounts

I have my Instagram in my bio and I make sure to link my Depop on my Instagram and Snapchat.

This way you can funnel traffic from your other social accounts and increase your likelihood of selling!

Product Photography

When you are taking pictures for your Depop shop, I recommend finding an aesthetic background that you can keep consistent. Having consistency is key when branding your shop. I switch between a white sheet or this set up in my room!

Good Lighting

Having good lighting is KEY to selling clothes on depop. I use a mini-ring light when taking pictures inside.

Listing Items

When it comes to listing your items on Depop, being as detailed as possible is best. Make sure to describe the item and also use hashtags. I suggest using as many as you can that ACCURATELY describe the product!

Here is an items description that sold on my page!

Hashtags

You can use 5 hashtags per post. Some hashtags I have found successful are #Y2K #Thrifted #Vintage #NWT (new with tags) #urbanoutfitters

Getting Followers

Getting followers on this app is not too important. However, to bring traffic to your store I have seen a lot of people follow a bunch of accounts!

Sometimes I go to the hashtag of an item I am selling and I find a similar post and follow the people that like the posts! It is basically like follow for follow ahahha but it helps me get new people to come to my account.

Keep Your Clothes Up

If you are posting an item on Depop, do not delete it OR get rid of the item right away. Sometimes it can take weeks to sell something and it would be a shame to have gotten rid of something that you still had listed on your shop.
